Failure Date: 08/01/2022. The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 22v413000 (power train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. Bad day today - Ford dealership told me they could not repair my 2013 C-max hybrid TCU module and power steering issues. Ford tells me that the TCU module has been draining the power system which has now compromised the power steering and that a replacement TCU module is not sold through Ford anymore and would be difficult to find. Better take it to Ford. I scheduled time with my closest Ford Dealer in Longmont Colorado. They spent 5 hours trying to diagnose what the problem could be. They came up with two potential problems: Battery Controller - $1,100 - $550 in parts, $550 in labor OR PHEV Battery - $13,500 they think. First off, a little background information: I have a 2013 Ford C-max SE and have had three dead battery events. They have always occurred when the car sat overnight. We make a point of making sure that nothing is left on or plugged in. We even make sure the keys are taken out of the ignition switch. A lot of early C-Max's had this problem. And Ford had a tough time fixing it. It would appear that Ford never really found the root cause of the problem but they knew something was draining the battery. This is a complicated engine and drive train. Ford came up with multiple fixes. I think all 2015 and newer C-Max's had enough fixes built in ZjNSgX. This is done to maximise fuel economy. My theory on the battery drain (which seems to be the case on my C-Max) is that the faulty Glow plug relay is the cause. The car has been to the ford dealer a few times but they have not been able to find anything wrong.  We have had a new battery fitted but this made no difference.  I have checked the drain on the battery and found it to not go below The C-Max has a very complex charging system, and requires the battery to be in perfect condition.
